From Ajmer to Nagore — Every Dargah Has a Story to Tell

Hazrat Khwaja Syedna Baba Fakhruddin Soharwardy Rehmathullahi Alaih

According to Shahgada Qalandar, a biographical account authored by his nephew and successor Syed Yusuf Qattal Hussaini (R.A.) Hazrat Baba Fakhruddin (R.A.) was born in 564 AH to Sultan Syed Hussain and Syeda Bibi Fatima Sagir.

Belonging to a noble and sacred lineage, his ancestors were direct descendants of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him)and hailed from the holy city of Makkah.

His grand uncle, Sultan Mohammed Hussain, held the esteemed position of Sharief of Makkah. Acting on his brother’s command, Sultan Abul Khasim, the grandfather of Baba Fakhruddin (R.A.), led a successful campaign to conquer Sistan from Akhahir, after which Syed Hussain ascended as the Sultan of Sistan and Shahpur.

From a young age, Baba Fakhruddin (R.A.) exhibited exceptional intellect and spiritual inclination. He was a distinguished scholar, well-versed inQuranic studies and Islamic jurisprudence, and equally adept in martial and leadership skills

Upon his father’s passing, he inherited the throne and ruled as the Shahenshah (King of Kings) of Sistan and Shahpur.

His reign was marked by justice, wisdom, and compassion, earning him deep affection and loyalty from his subjects

However, guided by divine inspiration and an inner calling for spiritual truth, Baba Fakhruddin (R.A.) eventually abdicated the throne, renouncing all worldly pleasures and wealth to pursue the sacred path of Sufism.
